STAMFORD, Conn., March 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Centerplate, the leading hospitality partner to North America's premier sports, entertainment and convention venues, is proud to announce today that Chief Marketing Officer Bob Pascal has been awarded the coveted "Forty Under 40" award by the SportsBusiness Journal. "We're thrilled to see Bob being recognized nationally for his ground breaking work at Centerplate, as he positions Centerplate as a total hospitality partner that drives business results for many of the most prestigious organizations in sports," said Centerplate CEO Des Hague. "This is a huge honor for Bob, and we are gratified that the SportsBusiness Journal agrees that Centerplate is taking a leadership position in the sports business community."
In his position as CMO of Centerplate, Pascal has been a key figure in developing the company's growth through strategic hospitality innovations at North America's most recognizable venues and gatherings, shaping the fan experience in areas as diverse as food, beverage, stadium design, merchandise, and suite services. To better understand fans, Pascal has overseen more than 12,000 in-depth fan interviews. These fan-centric insights have helped deliver category-leading returns for Centerplate clients, and have helped make Centerplate the fastest growing foodservice company in the nation, based in growth of number of units, as recognized by Nation's Restaurant News.
For six years, Pascal has also been integral to Centerplate's new business development activity. In that time, Centerplate won more than 60 new clients—representing revenue streams in excess of $1 billion. Among the prestigious new accounts won in the past two years: the new home of the San Francisco 49ers, the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, and the athletic facilities of the Universities of Notre Dame, Alabama and Kansas. This track record of success set the stage for Pascal's "Forty Under 40" distinction.
"I'm incredibly honored to be in the company of some of the best and brightest minds in Sports Business, but I think this award is a real tribute to the incredible team at Centerplate," Pascal said. "Together, Centerplate is changing the game in event hospitality, and I'm proud to be a member of this great organization."
Centerplate would also like to congratulate two clients who are recipients of the 2012 Forty Under 40 Award: San Francisco 49ers President and CEO Jed York, and Merritt Paulson, Owner and President of the Portland Timbers.
