FRANKFURT, Germany and PERTH, Australia, November 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
A German logistics company will handle the timekeeping tool kit for the 2011 ISAF Sailing World Championships
The ISAF Sailing World Championships will be the largest sailing event to be held in Australia since the America's Cup Defence in 1987. The start and finish of this year's event (3rd till 18th of December), will again be the city of Perth. In order to ensure that the times of more than 1,000 boats from almost 80 countries are correctly recorded, the organizers have hired the German sports specialist Conceptum Sport Logistics (http://www.conceptum-sport-logistics.com). Conceptum will punctually transport all the timekeeping equipment to the location of the competition using their worldwide freight network. The event will also be the main qualifying race for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London and is therefore of special significance for international sailing.
The timekeeping processes are now electronic; all boats will be equipped with sensors which will be monitored via computer. Parameters such as speed and position will be transmitted wirelessly. For Conceptum's CEO Sebastian Stahl this is a special task: "We transport sports equipment for organizations and associations all over the world. This time we are responsible for transporting the most critical item besides the sports equipment itself, as the timekeeping will determine the winners and losers of the regatta," says the logistics expert enthusiastically.
The company offers a genuinely door-to-door-service. "Trust is essential in sports equipment logistics," says Sebastian Stahl, "and that applies to every type of sport - a tailored solution is the only solution."
