Sport Clips Reaches "Billion Dollars" in Haircuts
Nation's Largest Men's and Boys' Hair Care Franchise Reaches Milestone; Will Open 120 New Stores in 2011
GEORGETOWN, Texas, June 14, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sport Clips Haircuts reached a "billion dollars in haircuts" in May after franchising for only 16 years. Sport Clips is the nation's leading men's and boys' hair care provider with more than 780 stores in 38 states. Announcement of the milestone came today from company founder and CEO Gordon Logan, a month ahead of when he and other company officials predicted the billion-dollars in net sales landmark would be set.
"We started Sport Clips to meet an under-served niche in the market, and reaching this milestone affirms that the vision is now very much a reality," says Logan. "Our continued growth as a successful franchise opportunity and service provider is made possible by our clients across the country who choose Sport Clips for their hair care needs and our Team Members who have chosen Sport Clips for their investments and their careers."
"Because we specialize in men's and boys' hair, we've been able to focus and refine the client experience over and above that which is available in other concepts," Logan adds. "We've developed a unique hot towel treatment during the massaging shampoo, added anti-fatigue floors for Stylists' comfort, have large screen TVs tuned to sports in the lobby and at each cutting station, and we have installed heated massaging shampoo chairs to create the ultimate client experience for men and boys. That is how we achieved this milestone of $1 Billion in sales, and how we will achieve our second billion within the next three to four years."
Logan went on to say that the Sport Clips concept continues to grow, with 120 new stores expected to open this calendar year. Same store sales of stores open one year or more were up "an amazing" nine percent in 2010, according to Logan, reinforcing the emphasis that Sport Clips places on improving sales and profitability of the franchised stores. In recent years, Sport Clips has increased its corporate and client participation in the Veterans of Foreign Wars' Operation Uplink program to become its largest "free call days" sponsor, raising more than $850,000 to provide over a million phone calls home to date for hospitalized and deployed US soldiers. Sport Clips has also strengthened its NASCAR sponsorship through Joe Gibbs Racing and drivers Joey Logano and Denny Hamlin, winning two races in the past year in the Nationwide Series.
