BOULDER, Colo., June 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Ello - The Creators Network - is the only online community designed and developed for creators, by creators. Ello has teamed with noted ad-free, fine-Art and slow fashion photography magazine SPOON Magazine to present an ongoing online/offline SPOON x Ello collab to help discover and feature emerging leading edge creators at the nexus of fashion and art.
In conjunction with and part of SPOON | 05 SIMPLICITY IS COUNTERPOWER, the SPOON x Ello collaboration presents the #SummerofElloLove Fashion x Art Competition. Renowned fashion publishing and editorial team Patrice Fuma-Courtis and Karine Chane Yin will curate nine Ello artists who create at the edge of fashion and art to appear in a special SPOON x Ello section of SPOON | 05 and the special edition newsprint of Spoon x Ello.
The top three fashion-related artists will be awarded $1,000, and the top talent as selected by Fuma-Courtis and Yin, fashion photography and art icon, Steve Hiett, and Ello Chief Product Officer, Lucian Föhr, will win a trip to Paris during Fashion Week where an event featuring her or his work, shown with all the artists in SPOON | 05, will take place.
To enter interested artists must simply have or create an Ello account, and post three images as one post on Ello with the following information: @spoonxello/Name/portfolio/website. The three images will be used to do initial selection, and a member's stream and portfolio will be used to make final selections.
The submission period runs from July 5th to July 24th. Any submission received later than 12 am MST on the 24th of July will not be accepted. Tell anyone and everyone you know doing cutting edge work that touches fashion and art to make an Ello account and enter. We hope to see you in Paris.
"Ello is committed to being wherever creativity lives, and we are focused on the many ways we can support creators everywhere," says Ello CMO, Mark Gelband. "Our partnership with SPOON and this competition seek to recognize and reward the work of emerging fashion artists who may not catch the eye of the corporate mainstream."
"When we discovered Ello, we knew we'd found a kindred spirit with their ad-free and human-centered values," notes SPOON partner and co-everything Karine Chane Yin. "We understand the importance of being able to speak directly with our audience, and Ello is the only creative social community online. It is more aesthetically beautiful than the mainstream advertising networks. The biggest decision we made when we repurchased SPOON was to make a completely ad-free magazine because we felt this was the only way to keep our publication independent, and free from commercial pressure."
Ello is the Creators Network. Launched in Fall 2014 by creators, for creators, Ello is the only online community specifically designed and developed for the world's artists, photographers, designers, illustrators, GIF makers, architects to discover, share, discuss, publish and promote their work, and the work and ideas of others that they love. Ello will be always ad-free and will never sell community member data. Ello is available on the web and as an iOS App, available in the Apple App store.
About SPOON - www.spoon-publishing.com www.ello.co/spoonmagazine
SPOON is an ad-free, fine-Art and slow fashion photography magazine. Originally created in 1996 as one of the first fashion Internet publication, we printed our first special edition that same year. After 7 issues, co-founders Karine Chane Yin & Patrice Fuma Courtis left the company when the commercial protocol started to conflict with their creative goals and values. They recently re-purchased the SPOON magazine trademark, and they relaunched the version in early 2014.
