P90X® Creator Horton and CNN Anchor Malveaux to Host 5K Race for Journalism, June 11
WASHINGTON, May 27, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The National Press Club announced that 32 sponsors have donated $48,500, one of the largest amounts in years, to NPC's Beat the Deadline 5K race. Celebrity trainer Tony Horton, creator of P90X® Home Fitness System, and veteran journalist Suzanne Malveaux, CNN Newsroom host, will serve as race marshals for the Press Club's 14th annual 5K to benefit education and diversity in journalism at 7:30 a.m., Saturday, June 11.

Newsmaker sponsors who have each donated $5,000 or more to the race include CQ - Roll Call, P90X, Washington Examiner, T-Mobile, Sysco, Bloomberg and Coke. Anchor sponsors who have each donated $2,500 or more include the American League of Lobbyists, Chevrolet, McGraw Hill, National Beer Wholesalers Association, Toyota, Press Building, LLC, C-Span, State Department Federal Credit Union and John Farr Lighting.
Headline sponsors donating $1,000 or more each include EMacDesign, BB&T, Graduate School USA, Levick Strategic Communications, the Houston Chronicle, Kiplinger, MAZDA, UPS, CITA – the Wireless Association, Alan Bjerga, and Weiner Public News. Five Front Page sponsors have also donated $500 or more.
Through the Eric Friedheim National Journalism Library, these donations fund research and training for working journalists and scholarships for future journalists who contribute to diversity in their profession and communities
The nation's premier race for journalists and their sources will start at 7:30 a.m. at the National Press Building in Washington, D.C. International fitness trainer Tony Horton will lead a pre-race P90X® warm-up beginning at 7:15 a.m. The race will be followed by the NPC Health & Fitness Fair, pancake breakfast, and awards ceremony. Tony Horton will hold an exclusive P90X® Workout and Book Signing at 6:30 p.m., on Thursday, June 9.
