WICHITA, Kan., Sept. 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Spirit AeroSystems [NYSE: SPR] celebrated the opening of a direct primary care health center today in Oklahoma. SolidaritUS Family Health Centers in Tulsa, Owasso and McAlester provide Spirit employees and their families in Oklahoma unparalleled access to personal physicians and broad-scope primary care services at no cost.
"The addition of this benefit for Spirit employees in Oklahoma provides access to quality health care at lower costs," said Spirit Executive Vice President and Chief Administration Officer Sam Marnick. "This unique benefit gives Spirit employees and their families an edge for personalized health care that will provide a better overall experience when it comes to their medical and health needs."
The number of patients under care of each SolidaritUS Health doctor is up to 75 percent fewer than the number typically seen by a primary care doctor in fee-for-service practice. The relatively small number of patients under each doctor's care offers patients and their personal doctors the unique opportunity to get to know one another and build a trusted relationship of mutual responsibility for each patient's health.
"Spirit employees enjoy convenient access to high-quality care with no out-of-pocket costs," said SolidaritUS Health President Mark Blum. "Many patients have never before experienced individualized care from a personal physician who has the time to listen and provide care tailored to their personal health needs and preferences.
"We know that better quality, broader scope primary care results in healthier patients and lower overall health costs for employees and employers," Mr. Blum said. "We are excited about our relationship with Spirit AeroSystems and the UAW to bring Spirit AeroSystems' employees and their families a world-class health care experience."
Health insurance and doctor-patient relationships can be stressful. The additional benefit of direct primary care will help reduce those stresses.
"UAW members and other Spirit employees have unprecedented access to their personal doctors at the Family Health Centers and remotely by mobile phone, video conference and email," said Kaye Brewer, UAW Tulsa Local 952 President. "We are hopeful this personalized care and access will result in better wellness management and outcomes for our members as it continues to evolve."
Spirit employs approximately 1,600 in Oklahoma, including 1,300 UAW-represented workers.
"All of us in Oklahoma are enrolled in this benefit – both UAW-represented and management employees. This is a solution for all of us, together," said Bill Brown, Spirit Senior Vice President, Oklahoma Operations. "Having access to quality, personalized health care is a top priority for our team. With the addition of a direct primary care benefit, employees will be empowered to better manage their overall health care experience."
