Speed Queen® Announces Second Annual Partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation®
Laundry brand to raise breast cancer awareness and funds through sale of limited-edition washers and dryers
RIPON, Wis., Sept. 15, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Speed Queen®, a leading manufacturer of home laundry equipment, today announced its second annual partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF) in support of breast cancer awareness and research surrounding Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. A portion of proceeds from the sale of a limited-edition washer and dryer pair, available at select independent retailers across the country, will benefit BCRF.
"Speed Queen is proud to partner once again with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, where 91 cents of every dollar spent supports breast cancer research and public awareness," said Jay McDonald, Vice President of North American Home Laundry Sales for Alliance Laundry Systems. "We are honored to contribute to the many BCRF programs that are truly making a difference and saving lives."
Between September 15 and November 15, Speed Queen will donate $20 from every limited-edition washer or dryer sold to the Foundation. The exclusive pink-accented machines are available at select independent retailers across the country, and have been built to the same commercial standard of durability that laundromats and on-premises laundry facilities have relied on for more than 100 years.
"We received such strong support of our partnership last year from our distributors, retailers and customers; there was no question we would continue it in 2014—and set our fundraising goals even higher," added McDonald.
In 2013, Speed Queen set out to raise $10,000 for BCRF and ultimately donated $16,500. This year, the manufacturer has committed to donating a minimum of $20,000.
Already more than $2,500 has been raised for BCRF on behalf of Doolittle Distributing, Inc., a Speed Queen distributor headquartered in Lenexa, Kansas.
"This cause is very important to us. It's hard to find someone who has not been personally affected by breast cancer, and our employees are no exception," said Jack Doolittle, President. "It doesn't matter how big or small the donation—if we all pitch in progress will be made."
"BCRF is grateful for the continued partnership and support from Speed Queen, its distributors and its customers during such a crucial time for generating funds toward breast cancer research," said Myra Biblowit, president and CEO of BCRF. "It's thanks to altruistic brands like Speed Queen that BCRF can continue to fulfill its life-saving mission."
