Speed Queen® Announces Results of Breast Cancer Awareness Fundraiser
Second annual partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation raises $20,330
RIPON, Wis., Dec. 4, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Speed Queen®, a leading manufacturer of home laundry equipment, today announced it has raised $20,330 to support breast cancer research and awareness as a result of a two-month partnership with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF) and the sale of limited-edition washers and dryers.
"In this second year of our partnership with BCRF surrounding Breast Cancer Awareness month, we set our fundraising goal even higher," said Jay McDonald, Vice President of North American Home Laundry Sales for Alliance Laundry Systems. "With the help of our distributors, independent retailers and customers, we are pleased to donate nearly $4,000 more this year to an organization that is committed to finding a cure for the disease."
In 2013, Speed Queen raised $16,500 for BCRF through the sale of a pink-accented washer or dryer over the course of two months. This year, Speed Queen once again partnered with BCRF between September 15 and November 15, donating $20 from every limited-edition machine sold to the Foundation and ultimately raising $20,330. The exclusive machines were available at select independent retailers across the country.
"We wouldn't be able to support our more than 220 researchers working to prevent and cure breast cancer without the donations from partners like Speed Queen," said Myra Biblowit, president and CEO of BCRF. "We have made great progress towards our goal of making the end of breast cancer a reality, and for that we are thankful."
