Spectacular Garden Displays Go Green at the 2012 San Francisco Flower & Garden Show!
SAN FRANCISCO, March 7, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The San Francisco Flower & Garden Show, www.sfgardenshow.com, welcomes Spring this year with 20 stunning full-size garden displays by talented landscape architects, designers, artists and builders. Now with a greener approach that celebrates "Gardens for a Green Earth," this annual festival will be held Wednesday - Sunday, March 21-25, 2012, at the San Mateo Event Center.
With the new green Show theme in mind, the "garden creators" work all year dreaming up their designs and coordinating the construction of their gardens which are built in four days. They will bring in tons of materials including plants and huge trees, building facades, furniture, and large pieces of art. A show sponsor, Lyngso Garden Materials, delivers all the boulders, stone and pebbles for the gardens. All the gardens reflect ways of creating beauty without harming the environment.
Leading this talented group is Metamorphosis Landscaping and partners building a garden, San Francisco Chic Meets Silicon Valley Technology, which fuses old-world craftsmanship with technology. Elegant orchids and maples will be surrounded by firefly lighting, rainwater harvesting, sculpture and even some fog to create that perfect Bay Area outdoor living experience.
Academy of Art students from the Landscape Architecture class are constructing an Urban Habitat which emphasizes "parklets" that can be used for seating, planting, and art work. Constructed out of dumpsters and other reused urban objects this garden reflects the current interest in recycling.
Greenlee Associates and Rock & Rose Landscaping are creating a savanna of large grasses together with their favorite meadow plants. These dramatic grasses are a great addition to the local landscape and require only moderate watering and less maintenance.
Seville Landscapes will build another gorgeous outdoor living room emphasizing the responsible use of water. They will create an ecosystem of plants and water that create a habitat for squirrels, pollinating insects and birds.
We have listed only four of the twenty outstanding gardens. For more details on the gardens contact [email protected] or view http://sfgardenshow.com/index.php/the-gardens.
