Special Report on "We Day California" Youth Event To Be Televised on Comcast Hometown Network (Channel 104) on Feb. 26th
LIVERMORE, Calif., Feb. 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Comcast Hometown Network (Channel 104), Comcast's regional cable network covering Northern and Central California, today announced that it will air a special report about "We Day California," a stadium-sized event that recognizes the achievements of tens of thousands of students who commit to local and global change. Coverage of the San Jose event will air as a special edition of CHN's program "Upside" on Thursday, Feb. 26, at 6:30 p.m. "Upside," hosted by Karli Mullane, is a live, 30-minute newscast airing on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. that takes a break from the dreary traditional news and reports on what's going right in the world.
We Day is an annual series of global events empowering young people to find their passion and create the change they want to see. It not only brings young people together to celebrate the actions that they are taking in their local and global communities, but We Day is tied to the year-long "We Act" program. It offers educational resources, campaigns and support materials to help turn the event's inspiration into sustained action. Through "We Act," students commit to taking one local and one global action to better the world, earning their way to We Day. You can't buy a ticket to We Day—you earn it.
The exclusive event brings together world-renowned speakers and performers. We Day California's lineup includes Lt. Colonel Eileen Collins, J.R. Martinez, Colbie Caillat and Joe Jonas to kick-start a year of action and to inspire another year of change by sharing the passion of world leaders and entertainers.
"Comcast Hometown Network is excited to bring you this unique event that recognizes the next generation of global citizens," said Jeff Giles, General Manager of Comcast Hometown Network. "The Upside special on We Day is a great example of CHN's unique programming of local, positive stories that you can't get anywhere else."
