Special Olympics Georgia Receives $90,000 Grant From The UPS Foundation

ATLANTA, June 5, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Special Olympics Georgia (SOGA) received a $90,000 grant from The UPS Foundation, the charitable arm of UPS (NYSE:UPS).  The grant will be used for the five State Special Olympics Georgia competitions which athletes and coaches attend from all over the state. Athletes train for a minimum of eight weeks leading up to the weekend of the State Event, which is run by the state office staff and thousands of volunteers.

"The support of The UPS Foundation through this grant will assist in empowering the 25,868 children and adults with intellectual disabilities through athletic sports training and competition. Our program would not be the same quality without the monetary support as well as the hands-on volunteer hours donated to Special Olympics Georgia by UPS. The athletes and their families are why we strive every day to do things better and more effectively and we cannot thank UPS enough for their generosity and belief in Special Olympics Georgia and the athletes," said CEO Georgia Milton-Sheats.
