Spear Education Partners With Wistia to Improve Video Streaming Experience
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Sept. 8, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Spear Education has partnered with video hosting service Wistia to improve viewers' video streaming experience across its Spear Online platform.
"Spear is committed to providing the very best in online dental education, continually striving to innovate by investing in technology to enhance our doctors' learning experience," said Nick Saunders, director of digital content for Spear Online. "Because of this, we are very excited about our partnership with Wistia to further build value for the Spear Online platform."
Wistia is a professional video hosting and analytics company with a diverse client base that includes Squarespace, Adobe Knowhow, Citrix Education, Hubspot, Arizona State University and Zumba, among many others.
"At Wistia, we pride ourselves on the creativity and dedication that our customers have toward making great video, and the innovative approaches they take to incorporating it into all aspects of their business," said Chris Savage, Wistia's CEO and co-founder.
Spear identified several opportunities for improvement based on thorough research and ongoing assessment of client feedback across platforms, and worked closely with Wistia to ensure all needs were met.
With this upgrade, viewers can now play videos easily on any browser, operating system or device without Flash. This new system also auto-detects the viewer's connection speed to automatically play video in the best possible resolution, so viewers no longer have to worry about toggling between SD and HD buttons or waiting several seconds for the picture quality to optimize.
Spear noted that a common request from viewers prior to the upgrade was the flexibility to increase playback speed, a wish that has now been fulfilled thanks to the new video player. Viewers can now change the playback speed of their videos to up to twice the regular speed.
Moreover, all Patient Education videos now feature English-language closed captioning, allowing dentists who play the videos in their practice or embed them onto their website to be compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act and provide full services for patients with accessibility issues.
Spear is excited to be providing a faster, more reliable viewing experience for its clients through this best-in-class technology, said Saunders.
"We're thrilled to add Spear Education to our roster," said Savage. "The company's commitment to delivering exceptional content for their training program is unparalleled, and we're proud they chose Wistia to help their team of experts easily deliver educational videos with speed across the business."
