SparkStarter trending to be the nation's largest dating network
Matchmaking app hits over 150k downloads and 25M profiles since Valentine's Day
MINNEAPOLIS, April 27, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- SparkStarter, a mobile social app for playing digital matchmaker, is announcing an early milestone of 150k app downloads. Whether you're single or in a relationship, SparkStarter allows you to take part in the matchmaking, fueling its potential to become one of the largest dating networks. Since its February 2015 launch, over 25 million user profiles are available using the friend network. Unlike other competitors, SparkStarter offers its users a safer, more quality match by connecting two people with common interests and friends from Facebook. So how do sparks start?
By logging in through Facebook, one has the option to play matchmaker or be matched. After choosing criteria such as age and location, users are provided a list of potential matches that they can "Vote Up" or "Vote Down." Spark-making begins when expert algorithms create compatibility rankings in percentages from zero to 100. These percentages can increase or decrease depending upon votes from mutual friends. Each "Vote Up" allows you to notify the people in the match or to invite them to join if they are not already on the app. Once two people anonymously vote one other up, a message appears allowing them to communicate.
"I attribute much of our early success to people loving the concept of playing digital matchmaker," said Tony Kramer, CEO and founder of SparkStarter. "We've already had relationships start and it's encouraging to see that 54 percent of our users are playing matchmaker for friends."
Kramer's friend introduced him to his now wife through a Facebook message and this "sparked" the idea for SparkStarter. "We've had several users mention they wouldn't have thought of setting up two of their friends until seeing them as a match in the app" said Kramer.
SparkStarter has received a total of $500k in angel round funding to date. "With additional growth expected, future funding rounds are expected to grow our user base, while keeping SparkStarter completely free for users," said Kramer.
SparkStarter is available for free on both iTunes and Google Play and is expected to announce its desktop version in the coming weeks. To learn more about SparkStarter or begin matchmaking, please visit SparkStarter.com.
