SparkFun Electronics to Hold Third Annual Autonomous Vehicle Competition

WHO:

SparkFun Electronics is a Boulder-based online retail store that specializes in helping electronic enthusiasts obtain the information and parts they need to make their projects a reality.  SparkFun's goal is to "share ingenuity," by providing customers with tutorials, user guides and easy access to electronic components.

WHAT:

The SparkFun Autonomous Vehicle Competition (AVC) brings together electronics enthusiasts from across the nation to showcase handmade inventions that are truly amazing.  Entrants include individuals, groups and teams from universities.  The event is for both aerial and ground vehicles, and competitors must design a vehicle that can circumnavigate the SparkFun office building without any human intervention.

Saturday, April 23, 2011 – Starting at 9 a.m. – running through 3 p.m.

WHY:

The SparkFun AVC was developed as a family-friendly robotics event that encourages innovation and advancements in the field of DIY electronics.  Each year, additional objectives and obstacles have been added to the course to increase difficulty and encourage further innovation.  The primary goal of the event is to have fun, while showing the impressive technology that is available to the average person in today's world.
