Spark Energy Partners With Helping a Hero to Support Wounded Veterans
HOUSTON, May 26, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In honor of Memorial Day, Spark Energy and Helping a Hero have partnered to create a special electricity plan that lets Texans support wounded veterans while enjoying a special low fixed rate offer.
"The troops have done so much for us and for this country," said Phil Tonge, President of Spark Energy. "They deserve more than our remembrance– they deserve our support. That's why we've created this innovative electricity plan to support the troops and help ease their transition back to civilian life after the incredible sacrifices they've made."
When you sign up for the Spark Energy Power for Heroes plan, a portion of your bill is donated to Helping a Hero every month, at no additional cost to you, for as long as you're a Spark Energy customer. Helping a Hero will take that money and put it toward initiatives to aid veterans injured in the war on terror, like providing specially adapted homes, mentorship, career help and financial support.
One such veteran Spark Energy has aided through the Helping a Hero program is Sgt. Andrew Beesley. Beesley was awarded a Purple Heart after he survived several brutal days of battle and the vehicle he was travelling in was hit with an IED in Iraq. With generous donations and support from Spark Energy and Helping a Hero, Beesley has been able to successfully transition back into civilian life with his fiancee and two young daughters.
But helping veterans who have put themselves in harm's way isn't the only advantage of Spark Energy's new electricity plan. Customers who sign up for the Power for Heroes plan also get a special low fixed rate offer.
"Working with Spark Energy is a great way to raise money for our wounded heroes," said Meredith Iler, President of Helping a Hero. "Everyone needs electricity. Why not get it from a company that makes a difference?"
