TORONTO, Dec. 12, 2013 /CNW/ - Space congratulates ORPHAN BLACK's Tatiana Maslany on her Golden Globe Award® nomination, as announced earlier this morning by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association®. The star of the hit Space original series, from Temple Street Productions and produced in partnership with BBC America, was honoured for her critically-acclaimed work in ORPHAN BLACK with a nomination in the Best Actress in a TV Series, Drama category, alongside heavy-hitters Juliana Margulies, Kerry Washington, Robin Wright, and Taylor Schilling. ORPHAN BLACK's second season premieres Saturday, April 19 at 9 p.m. ET on Space. The 71st ANNUAL GOLDEN GLOBE AWARDS® air Jan. 12 at 8 p.m. ET on CTV.

In ORPHAN BLACK, Maslany has wowed audiences by portraying seven distinct clones, including streetwise hustler Sarah Manning, Detective Beth Childs, German Katja Obinger, soccer mom Alison Hendrix, PHD student Cosima Niehaus, the unpredictable Helena, and the mysterious pro-clone Rachel Duncan. Her performance has garnered a Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Dramatic Actress, a Television Critics Association Award for Individual Achievement in Drama, and an EWwy Award for Best Actress from Entertainment Weekly readers. Tatiana is also currently nominated for a People's Choice Award for Favourite Sci-Fi/Fantasy TV Actress, and most recently won a Young Hollywood Award for Breakthrough Performance - Female and the Borsos Best Performance Award at the Whistler Film Festival for her role in Cas & Dylan.
Toronto-based Maslany has earned a reputation for playing incredibly complex characters. The Globe and Mail called her "a chameleon" whose range spans everything from the Virgin Mary to leather-wearing tough girls. Chosen as one of the "Rising Stars" at the 2012 Toronto International Film Festival®, Maslany also earned Best Performance awards from the Whistler International Film Festival and ACTRA for her role as the troubled, promiscuous teenager Claire in Picture Day. Her starring role in Grown Up Movie Star opposite Shawn Doyle competed at Sundance in 2010 and she garnered the Special Jury Prize for Breakout Star at the festival as well as a Genie nomination. Her recent feature credits include Cas and Dylan, The Vow, Violet And Daisy, and a lead in Sean Garrity's improvisational feature Blood Pressure opposite Jake Epstein.
Maslany's numerous television credits include the Tandem and Scott Free Production WORLD WITHOUT END based on the novel by Ken Follett, a Gemini-nominated performance as the Virgin Mary in the BBC/CBC co-production NATIVITY directed by Coky Giedroyc, and Gemini-winning roles in BLOODLETTING AND MIRACULOUS CURES for The Movie Network, and CTV's FLASHPOINT.
