VICTORIA, British Columbia, July 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Monica Helmstetter, seasoned triathlete and Events Director of SPATEC, a professional spa industry networking and events company, formed the #SpasPushingLimits group with 15 spa and wellness industry friends to compete in the Subaru Half Ironman Triathlon in Victoria, BC on June 4th. The group banded together with a goal of raising funds to support the Eminence Kids Foundation, a non-profit committed to providing organic, locally-sourced foods to sick children around the world. The group's goal was to raise $10,000 to fund a full year of organic meals in a new location. The Eminence Kids Foundation is a charitable initiative of Eminence Organic Skin Care, a natural, organic and Biodynamic® skin care company, committed to giving back to those in need, and supporting a variety of charitable efforts.
"I had heard of the Eminence Kids Foundation before and knew that the charity was supporting children, however, it wasn't until about 9 months ago, that I learned more specifics about the program and how much of an impact this charity makes on so many children coping with serious illness," said Helmstetter. "Starting #SpasPushingLimits opened up a door that enabled me to start giving back, doing what I love, and unite like-minded people in our industry. It was a natural fit."
Supporters alongside Helmstetter include her husband, Phil Helmstetter; Phil Sconzert from Fitness on Demand; Katy Muenter, Katie Rattray, Jim Bradley, Breanne Carter and Gordon Turnbull from Eminence Organic Skin Care; Jarrod Muenter; David Erlich, the former director of spa and retail operations at Spa of the Rockies; Clint Wall from Zeel; Epicuren Discovery's Jessica Santora; Danny Chang, Michael Matthews, and Scott Michaelis from Live Love Spa; and Kristi Konieczny (Spa Buzz).
The day after the race, Boldijarre Koronczay, President of Eminence Organic Skin Care, hosted the group in the brand's home city of Vancouver, B.C.
"We are deeply honored and humbled by the commitment, time, energy and passion that everyone dedicated, not only to training, but to helping support the Eminence Kids Foundation and making a difference in the lives of the kids, said Koronczay. "Monica's passion was truly inspirational as she led this dynamic group (many for their first triathlon) and made it a fun, memorable event all while supporting a worthwhile cause."
The Eminence Kids Foundation has proudly donated over 47,000 meals (and counting!) to families around the globe since its inception in 2013. For more information on The Foundation or to support this worthwhile cause, visit eminencekidsfoundation.org.
