S&P Equity Research Picks PNR Focus Stock of the Week
NEW YORK, June 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Pentair, Inc. (NYSE: PNR: $38) has been picked by Standard & Poor's Equity Research as its Focus Stock of the Week. PNR carries S&P's highest investment recommendation of 5-STARS, or Strong Buy.
Pentair operates in two segments: the Technical Products Group and the Water Group. In 2010, 66% of total sales were derived from the Unites States, while 20% came from developed foreign countries and 14% from fast-growth emerging regions.
"We believe Pentair is well positioned for growth based on its diversified mix of business, geographies and vertical markets," said Stewart Scharf, Industrials Equity Analyst at Standard & Poor's Equity Research. "It has a strong distribution network with leading brand names. Its end market breakdown is 40% industrial, 29% U.S. residential, 11% commercial, 10% non-U.S. residential and 10% infrastructure.
Scharf sees positive trends continuing for most end markets, driven by improving demand for PNR's products in global industrial and non-U.S. residential, while declines in non-residential construction moderate. Scharf notes that while desalination is growing and global enclosures demand remains strong, the U.S. municipal market continues to be impacted by budget shortfalls and less federal stimulus funding.
