Sovereign Health's Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Tonmoy Sharma, Discusses Addiction and Mental Health on Public Broadcasting Services

According to the Department of Health and Human Services, the U.S. is in the midst of an addiction crisis. "When I looked at the mental health and addiction scene, there were high-end treatment centers and county facilities, but nobody was looking to provide treatment for Middle America," says Dr. Sharma. "About 60 percent of people with addiction also suffer from a mental health disorder," continues Dr. Sharma. Patients who've been treated for both mental health and addiction receive better outcomes than those who are treated solely for addiction."

Dr. Sharma has been recognized with numerous awards, honors and grants for his work in advancing mental health. He is a prolific researcher and scientist as well as the author or co-author of more than 200 peer-reviewed articles and five books on schizophrenia and mental illness.
