SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., Sept. 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Sovereign Health, a leading national licensed provider of behavioral health treatment services, has entered into a partnership with the University of Southern California's (USC) Suzanne Dworak-Peck School of Social Work. The USC-Sovereign Health partnership provides students in USC's social work program the opportunity to obtain hands-on experience that will allow them to receive the clinical development they need in order to become practitioners. The students, who will serve as interns at Sovereign Health, will enroll in a nine- to 12-month practicum internship program, managed by a staff of licensed clinical social workers (LCSW). During their internship, the students will receive 16 to 24 clinical hours per week with patients.

Sovereign Health currently has USC interns enrolled in the program at its Los Angeles and San Clemente treatment facilities and is expected to expand this program to additional Sovereign Health facilities throughout the United States. Graduates of the USC School of Social work will earn a Master of Social Work (MSW) degree, allowing them to pursue careers in a wide range of fields, including behavioral health, military and community advocacy, and family counseling.
