Southwire SIMpull REEL™ Maneuverable Payoff System Named EC&M Magazine Product Of The Year
SIMpull REEL Payoff Selected as Wire & Cable (Accessories & Equipment) Category Winner
CARROLLTON, Ga., May 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- By making it possible for a single person to safely and efficiently maneuver a 6,000-pound reel through tight spaces on a job site and set up and pay off the reel right beside electrical equipment/conduit, Southwire's SIMpull REEL™ payoff was selected by Electrical Construction & Maintenance magazine as Product of the Year in the Wire & Cable (Accessories & Equipment) category.
This marks the sixth time in nine years that one of Southwire's products received such an honor. A panel of judges — including electrical professionals representing the design/engineering, contracting and facilities/maintenance industries — reviewed the entries. The 42 most innovative products of the year were recognized by EC&M. The category winners will go on to compete for the 2015 Product of the Year Platinum, Gold, and Silver awards, which will be determined through an upcoming online readers' poll and announced in EC&M's August 2015 issue.
Southwire's SIMpull REEL maneuverable payoff system eliminates the need for additional equipment and makes it possible for one worker to safely and efficiently maneuver a 6,000-pound reel through spaces as narrow as a 36-inch doorway. The SIMpull REEL payoff carries all of the hardware and easily sets up to complete the payoff. It is a part of Southwire's SIMpull® Feeder Management System and a great way to leverage the compounding benefits of SIMpull® NoLube® wire, colored feeder wire, paralleled conductors, SIMpull Stack™ reels, SIMpull Head® devices, the SIMpull RipChip™ and the Configurator App, a feeder release planning tool available on iPad.
"Southwire's SIMpull REEL payoff is designed to make the entire process of handling, transporting, setting up and pulling indoor feeder wire reels significantly more efficient. Southwire has eliminated the need for traditional material handling and payoff equipment. With outer reel flanges that each rotate independently, combined with an inner reel compartment which contains the wire and rotates separately from the outer reel flanges, the unit is significantly easier to move and navigate," said Richard Temblador, Director, Field Research at Southwire. "The entire idea behind the SIMpull Feeder Management System is to improve productivity on job sites, while enhancing safety and making the job easier for electrical contractors."
