DALLAS, Sept. 16, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) today announced the promotion of Joe Migis to Vice President Technology of Product Solutions, where he will oversee a Team of about 1,000 and lead overall product development efforts in support of the airline. Migis will report to Senior Vice President and Chief Information Officer Randy Sloan, and he will assume this new role immediately.
"Joe's broad and deep experience in the software development discipline, coupled with his extensive knowledge of the airline industry and how our Company operates, make this a natural fit for him to lead this critical technology function," Sloan said.
Migis, 49, joined the carrier in June 2005 and most recently served as Senior Director of Product Solutions, with responsibility for product development efforts for the Company's current domestic reservation system. During his tenure at Southwest, he has served in various senior leadership roles, primarily in support of the Commercial and Operations business functions.
Prior to Southwest, Migis was employed at PepsiCo, Inc. and Frito-Lay, Inc. for more than 17 years, where he began his IT career as a programmer and later served in a senior leadership role. Migis earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Computer Information Systems at The University of North Texas in Denton, Texas, and currently resides in Coppell, Texas, with his wife and two children.
