DALLAS, June 14, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) has announced that Trevor Stedke has been named Vice President of Technical Services. In this position, Stedke will provide Leadership for Engineering Services and Standards, Quality, Maintenance Safety, Powerplant, and Aircraft Programs.

Stedke comes to Southwest from Federal Express, where he served for 15 years in progressively responsible positions, culminating in his role as the Managing Director of Aircraft Engineering Planning and Performance. His areas of responsibility at FedEx included Aircraft Engineering; Aircraft Maintenance Programs; Propulsion Engineering; Air Operations Technology; Engineering Planning; Aircraft Reliability; Air Operations Standards, Analysis, and Controls; Engineering Support; and Airline Fleet Management (Fleet Teams).

Stedke received a Bachelor of Science from Ohio State University in Aviation Engineering/Atmospheric Science, where he also completed United States Marine Corps Officer Training. In 2004, Stedke earned his Master of Science in Engineering Management from Christian Brothers University, where he completed a hybrid program which blended a Master of Engineering with a Master of Business Administration.
Stedke succeeds the previous Vice President of Technical Services, who left the Company earlier this year. Stedke begins his position at Southwest Airlines on June 20.
