DALLAS, June 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) recently announced that Chris Monroe has been promoted to Treasurer. In this position, Monroe provides Leadership, direction, and support for the Treasury Department, and has direct responsibilities for corporate finance functions including capital markets, cash management and investing, fuel hedging, interest rate and foreign currency hedging, corporate insurance, stock option administration, fleet contract administration, banking and rating agency relationships, and capital structure.
Monroe began working for Southwest in September 1991 and has served in various roles throughout the Company. Some of Monroe's previous positions include: Senior Financial Analyst, Manager Cargo Finance, Purchasing Contract Negotiator, Director Ground Operations Planning, and Financial Planning Controller. In 2007, Monroe moved to the Treasury Department as Director Corporate Finance and was promoted to Assistant Treasurer in 2011. Monroe succeeds former Southwest Airlines Treasurer Scott Topping, who left the Company last year.
Prior to joining Southwest, Monroe worked for Accenture in Information Systems consulting for two years. Monroe graduated cum laude with a B.B.A. in Finance from Abilene Christian University.
