DALLAS, Jan. 22, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Southwest Airlines and its wholly owned subsidiary AirTran Airways today each released flight schedules for Aug. 12, 2012, through Sept. 28, 2012. While the airlines' networks are not connected at this point, both carriers are working together to publish the best flight schedules to places Customers want to go. Each carrier is adding new nonstop routes with this schedule as outlined below. Additionally, overall daily flight counts for each airline slightly decline due to a slowing of demand coming off the busy summer travel months. Southwest's August and September schedules will offer Customers 3,250 daily flights. AirTran's schedules will offer more than 550 daily flights. NEW SERVICE BEGINNING Aug. 12, 2012 (open for sale today):
- Southwest:
- Three new daily nonstop flights between Atlanta and Norfolk
- Three new daily nonstop flights between Atlanta and Louisville
- Two new daily nonstop flights between New York LaGuardia and St. Louis
- Two new daily nonstop flights between San Antonio and St. Louis
- AirTran:
- Two new daily nonstop flights between Akron-Canton and Chicago Midway
Also with this schedule, two daily nonstop flights at Seattle-Tacoma (SEA) will transition from AirTran to Southwest. As of Aug. 12, 2012, Southwest will offer 41 flights from Seattle, becoming the first airport to fully convert to Southwest Airlines service.
