DALLAS, June 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Southwest Airlines (NYSE: LUV) and AirTran Airways today announced additional service coming to Milwaukee. Beginning Sept 6, 2011, AirTran will add two daily roundtrips between Milwaukee and Des Moines, IA, as well as two daily roundtrips between Milwaukee and Akron-Canton, OH. Also on Sept. 6, 2011, Southwest Airlines will initiate two daily roundtrips between Milwaukee and St. Louis, MO, and a daily roundtrip to Denver, adding to the once daily trip AirTran already makes to the Mile-High city.
"As we continue to integrate AirTran into Southwest, we have the opportunity to provide new Customer itineraries out of terrific cities like Milwaukee," said Bob Jordan, Southwest's Executive Vice President Strategy and Planning and President of AirTran Airways. "Cities like Des Moines, Akron-Canton, and St. Louis will benefit from additional capacity to Milwaukee, from the options that have been available. Likewise, Milwaukee travelers get additional opportunities through cities like St. Louis and Denver, to connect virtually anywhere on the broader Southwest Airlines network."
AirTran's marketing partnership with SkyWest Airlines will end, effective Sept. 6, 2011. AirTran will contact all affected Customers to assist with travel options, including those announced today.
