Southern Career College Launches $100,000 Information Technology Lab

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., May 2, 2012 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Jacksonville's Southern Career College introduces a new $100,000 computer lab for students studying Network Administration at the higher education institution. Students in the program gain employable skills in information technology network design, configuration, administration and troubleshooting and can look forward to careers as IT Analysts, A+ Certified Technicians, Customer Support Engineers, Network Field Technicians or Client Server Technologists.

The city of Jacksonville was recently ranked by Forbes as the #6 city in the United States for tech jobs, ahead of even the Silicon Valley region.

Southern Career College is located on the 11^th floor at 9550 Regency Square Blvd near the Regency Square Mall. The college's current programs of study include the Information Technology Network program as well as Computer Drafting & Design, Consumer Information, Medical Assistant, Medical Assistant Technician, Nursing Assistant and Phlebotomy.

Southern Career College is owned by Dade Medical College, a private post-secondary institution teaching allied healthcare and nursing, headquartered in Miami, FL.  A Dade Medical College campus is set to open early this summer on the 12^th floor of the same building and will offer Associate of Science and Bachelor's of Science degree programs in Nursing and Associate of Science degree programs in Diagnostic Medical Ultrasound, Diagnostic Cardiac Sonography and Massage Therapy. Both SCC and Dade Medical College plan to upgrade and expand their Jacksonville facilities as well as their curriculum offerings in the coming year.

As the transition progresses, Dade Medical College projects to add an additional 60 jobs to the already pre-existing staff at both institutions.
