Dr. John Scaringe was appointed President of the Southern California University of Health Sciences in May 2010. He began his career as a faculty member of the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic (LACC) in 1991. Dr Scaringe served as Chair of various academic departments for LACC before directing the University Health Center in Whittier, CA, the largest outpatient care facility at SCU. In 2001, he became Dean of Clinical Education and in 2005 was appointed Dean of the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic and Vice President for Academic Affairs in 2007.
Dr. Scaringe is a published author and has served as the Associate Editor for the Journal of Sports Chiropractic and Rehabilitation and on the editorial advisory board of Manual Therapy. In addition to his membership on editorial review boards for peer reviewed journals, Dr. Scaringe's has also been published in numerous peer reviewed journals, authored book chapters, platform and poster presentations at professional and scientific conferences, and participated on state and national evidence based consensus panels. He also has been a frequent lecturer on sports medicine and manual therapy related topics and has cared for elite amateur and professional athletes worldwide. In addition to private practice and over 25 years of teaching experience, Dr Scaringe currently serves on the Council on Chiropractic Education.
Dr. Scaringe holds a Bachelors of Science and Doctor of Chiropractic degrees and earned a Master's of Science in Kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton, and an Ed.D in Educational Leadership from California State University, Long Beach. He is also a past President of the American Chiropractic Board of Sports Physicians.
