The Hoffa-Hall slate won the 2011 IBT International Officer Election by a wide margin in November. The election results were certified on Jan. 6. Hoffa took office in March 1999 and won re-election in 2001 and 2006. Under his stewardship, the Teamsters Union has regained its place as the strongest labor union in North America.
"I look forward to working with Randy, Rick and Ron," Hoffa said. "They are true champions for working families. We have accomplished so much as a union since 1999, but our work is not done. Workers are under attack in this country and unions are the only ones standing up for people with no voice. With the support of strong leaders like them and the entire General Executive Board, the Teamsters Union will continue to lead the fight to protect the middle class and the American dream."
Cammack, a member of the General Executive Board serving as a Western Region International Vice President since 1998, is also President of Joint Council 42 and Secretary-Treasurer of Local 63, both headquartered in Covina. Cammack also serves as the trustee of the Western Conference of Teamsters Pension Trust and Vice President of the California Federation of Labor. He has been a Teamster since 1967.
"I am honored to be re-elected to another five years serving the 1.4 million members of the Teamsters Union," Cammack said. "I have fought to protect our rights as working men and women since the first day I became a Teamster 45 years ago. I look forward to continuing that fight with my colleagues on the General Executive Board."
Middleton, in addition to his role of Western Region International Vice President, is also Secretary-Treasurer of Local 572 in Carson, a member of the Advisory Committee for Joint Council 42 and International Chairman of the National School Bus and Transit Bus Drive campaign. He has been a Teamster since 1968.
"The labor movement and working families face challenges from all sides and they need a strong advocate," Middleton said. "I can't think of a better collection of people who I would want to stand by my side to face these challenges than my brothers and sisters on this General Executive Board. Under the leadership of General President Hoffa and General Secretary-Treasurer Hall, our union will accomplish great things."
Herrera, who begins his first term on the General Executive Board as an International Trustee, is also Secretary-Treasurer of Local 396, Executive Director of the National Hispanic Caucus and Trustee of Joint Council 42. He has been a Teamster since 1975.
"I am truly honored to join this outstanding team of men and women on the General Executive Board," said Ron Herrera, International Trustee. "I look forward to joining them in the fight to protect the rights of working families and leading our proud union into the future."
