SAVANNAH, Ga., Aug. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- South University, Savannah is pleased to announce that 100 percent of its students taking the National Commission for Certification of Anesthesiologist Assistants (NCCAA) exam in 2018 passed. This marks 11 of 13 years since the program's inception that students have achieved this result.
The NCCAA provides the certification process for anesthesiologist assistants in the United States. The certification process for anesthesiologist assistants includes an initial certifying examination, ongoing registration of continuing medical education, and interval examinations for continued demonstration of qualifications.
The Master of Medical Science in Anesthesia Science program at South University, Savannah was developed to provide education in current practices in anesthesiology and instill the highest standards of professionalism and service to patients. The program consists of 169 quarter hours of classroom, laboratory, and clinical education, and takes place over the course of nine quarters or 28 months.
Throughout the program's history, 100 percent of students enrolled in the program were working within their field of study immediately following graduation. According to the American Academy of Anesthesiologist Assistants, "The starting salary for CAAs is about $110,000 annually, with generous sign on bonuses, an average of five weeks vacation each year, pension and profit sharing, and other excellent benefits."
