South Tyrol Civil Protection Agency Maximizes Availability Of Emergency Rescue Data With Commvault HyperScale
Autonomous Province of Bolzano optimizes data recovery at disaster sites with Commvault HyperScale™ and Commvault Complete™ Backup & Recovery
With Commvault Activate™ and Commvault Orchestrate the agency leverages analytics to increase resource efficiencies and simplify GDPR compliance
TINTON FALLS, N.J. and SOUTH TYROL, Italy, April 10, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Commvault (NASDAQ: CVLT), a recognized global enterprise software leader in the management of data for cloud and on-premises environments, today announced that the Agency for Civil Protection in South Tyrol, Italy has implemented Commvault HyperScale™ and Commvault Complete™️ Backup and Recovery to maximize the availability of data needed to support successful rescue missions.
Administered by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, the Agency for Civil Protection responds to thousands of requests for assistance every year - from fires and avalanches to road accidents and earthquakes. The Alpine region's population of 500,000 people is augmented by millions of visitors every year who take part in a range of outdoor activities.
The agency chose to deploy six (6) Commvault HyperScale™ Appliances for scale-out data protection. Five of these devices were located in data center and office locations. They also use a Commvault® Remote Office Appliance in a mobile operations vehicle that can be relocated for emergency operations and critical data management availability.
"We need to have a record of the actions taken during a disaster relief situation. With the Remote Office Appliance, we can safeguard against data loss with automated and centralized backups," said Stefan Hellweger, Head of IT for the agency for Civil Protection.
The agency has 210 employees and 19,000 volunteers and is responsible for the region's traffic and meteorological data. By using Commvault technology to analyze weather patterns, the agency can safeguard its rescue teams when responding to emergencies across the 2,800-mile region.
The agency has also simplified compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) through the use of Commvault Activate™ and Commvault Orchestrate™.
"With Commvault, we can quickly and easily search for personal data stored on physical and virtual servers as well as backup files," said Hellweger. "It has accelerated our response to GDPR requests and improved governance and transparency."
"A single point of control for data recovery in lifesaving operations is essential," said Christian Lang, Vice-President EMEA, Commvault. "We are proud to be working with the Agency for Civil Protection in South Tyrol to help ensure the integrity and availability of operational data, especially when their teams are working in emergency situations."
