South Pointe Place, Affordable Housing for Low-Income Seniors, to Open

SHREVEPORT, La., Oct. 16, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas (FHLB Dallas) and member institution Red River Bank will join with Volunteers of America for the grand opening of South Pointe Place, a 50-unit complex for very low-income senior citizens. The event will take place at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2015, at South Pointe Place, 1133 South Pointe Parkway in Shreveport, Louisiana. The media is encouraged to attend.

Volunteers of America in 2013 was awarded a $500,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant from FHLB Dallas and Red River Bank for the new construction on three acres. The 50 units utilize universal design principles and include ample room for wheelchairs. This will allow residents to age in place.

In 2015, FHLB Dallas, in partnership with its member financial institutions, has awarded more than $7.4 million in AHP grants to 32 projects, primarily within its five-state District of Arkansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, and Texas. For more information, visit fhlb.com.
