South Korea HWPL Peace Summit Ignites International Support for Peace Law Campaign
ANAHEIM, Calif., Sept. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Volunteers of non-profit organization Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL) hosted a peace conference at the Anaheim Convention Center on September 12th as a pre-event to the main "2018 HWPL Peace Summit" recently held in South Korea from September 17-19th.
One of the goals of the "2018 HWPL Peace Summit" in South Korea is to discuss HWPL's main initiative, the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW). The DPCW is a proposed body of law, drafted by international law experts to fundamentally prevent armed conflicts and establish sustainable peace. Most recently, the governments of eSwatini, Seychelles, Comoros, and Pan-African Parliament (PAP) have signed the National Solidarity Statement to support the DPCW in their countries.
Among the highlights of the summit included the Viceminister of Education of Guatemala José Inocente Moreno Cambara's signing of the Memorandum of Agreement to offer HWPL Peace Education to public and private schools in Guatemala. On the following day, the Peace Festival was held at the Incheon Asiad Main Stadium with nearly 100,000 participants from 39 countries in attendance.
"I believe that peace is approaching every day due to the activities of Chairman Man Hee Lee of HWPL," said H.E. Viktor Yushchenko, Former President of Ukraine at the Peace Festival. "The DPCW can be the basis of solidarity for peacekeeping in all countries of the world. I think all the leaders of the countries should support the DPCW."
In North and South America, volunteers are discussing with their city representatives how the DPCW can be applied at a local level and receiving widespread support. The Mayor of Buena Park in California awarded HWPL with a congratulatory plaque to honor HWPL's efforts and Congresswoman Linda Sanchez of the 38th District of California also sent a message of support to HWPL "for their work of peace through community service, and the 10 articles and 38 clauses of the Declaration of Peace and Cessation of War (DPCW)." In Ecuador, the President of the National Assembly recognized Chairman Lee for his peace efforts with an official memorandum.
During the peace conference in Anaheim, Lorri Galloway, former city of Anaheim councilmember and Mayoral candidate called on citizens to unite.
"Article 10 [of the DPCW], spreading the culture of peace, is a powerful declaration of a movement that will change the world."
