Colon cancer is the second deadliest cancer among men and third among women but a report has found that people who receive colonoscopies to remove growths lower their mortality rate. Screening for colon cancer can drastically reduce one's risk of developing this disease because, during a colonoscopy, colon polyps can be found and removed before they have a chance to develop into cancer. Colonoscopies are recommended for men and women in their fifties but your family's health history should be a consideration to receiving an earlier screening.
Digestive CARE™ is also committed to the Colon Cancer Alliance as they are the leading national patient advocacy organization dedicated to increasing screening rates and survivorship.
If you have questions or are hesitant over the procedure please read Digestive CARE's helpful guide on preparing for your colonoscopy.
Digestive CARE's 51 gastroenterologists are available for interviews, public service announcements, private speaking engagements, or further discussion regarding preventative measures for colon cancer and your digestive health. Please contact Digestive CARE for more information.
