South Florida PBS Presents a New, Interactive Public Affairs Program
Your South Florida
MIAMI, Jan. 13, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- South Florida PBS (WPBT2 and WXEL) announces a new genre of public affairs program that allows the people of South Florida to participate in the show and emphasizes civil discourse on issues that impact them. Your South Florida debuts on WPBT2 on Friday, January 20th at 7:30 PM and on WXEL on Sunday, January 22nd at 6:30 PM.
A weekly half hour program, Your South Florida is hosted by Emmy-Award winning journalist Pam Giganti. "I am excited to be a part of this new initiative. It is important to have programs such as this where people have the opportunity to go beyond the headlines and sound bites and have real conversations about issues that matter most to them" said Ms. Giganti.
The premiere program will focus on issues identified by President-elect, Donald Trump which have the potential to result in changes that impact many South Floridians. These issues include health insurance, immigration policy, and the new Winter White House.
Breaking new ground, Your South Florida will partner with PBS Newshour Student Reporting Labs at Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Senior High and Braddock Senior High. Student journalists will hit the streets to engage residents, compiling their responses into segments called, "Your Take."
Joyce Belloise, Vice President of Content & Community Partnerships said, "The exciting thing about this new program is the level of connection with viewers. We've been hosting listening sessions around South Florida as well as learning about the topics that matter most to our communities. And we pledge to keep that dialogue going both on-air and online."
