MISSION VIEJO, Calif., April 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of South County Trojans Elite Youth Football announced today it has named Rob Besuzzi as head coach of its 6U football team.
"Coach Besuzzi is adept at bringing out the best in the youngest football players," said Chad Johnson, chairman of the Trojans' board and head coach of the Mission Viejo High School football team. "With 15 years of youth football coaching experience, his athletes and their families love the passion and fun that he brings to the game."
Coach Besuzzi played for Rio Hondo Prep High School as a linebacker and center all four years, where he won CIF in 1990. After graduation, he played in the Police & Fire National Football League for five years as a safety. Prior to high school, Coach Besuzzi spent a number of years playing youth tackle football, which is when his love for the game began.
Coach Besuzzi has spent a total of 15 years coaching youth football, which started while he was still in high school. Recently, he served as assistant coach for the Saddleback Valley Pop Warner Bear's junior varsity team (13U). He also coached at multiple levels within the same program each year, beginning in 2013 with the 6U team, which had an undefeated season. As a coach of youth athletes, Coach Besuzzi has an exceptional temperament and a knack for helping young players develop a love for the game and the ability to play at a higher level.
He has served as a Huntington Beach police officer for 19 years and lives in Aliso Viejo with his wife, Noel, and two kids, CJ (14) and Kellen (6). The Besuzzi family loves spending time snowboarding, traveling, and enjoying Dodger games and other sports.
Coach Besuzzi is currently building out his assistant coaching staff for the 6U team and details will be announced shortly.
The third Evaluation & Training Camp will be held at Mission Viejo High School Saturday, April 27th in the late afternoon/early evening. Specific times to-be-announced shortly. For more information, visit https://becomeatrojan.sportngin.com/register/who/625788141.
