MISSION VIEJO, Calif., April 10, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The board of directors of South County Trojans Elite Youth Football introduced today the Trojans' 11U coaching staff, led by head coach Jay Hawkins.

Coach Jay Hawkins possesses 28 years of youth football coaching experience at a club-level. He played for La Quinta High School in Westminster as both a running back and linebacker at the varsity level. He began coaching at 19 years old, including stints with: the Irvine Chargers (OCJAAF) for three years, coaching running backs, receivers, corners, defensive backs, and the offensive and defensive lines for the 8U and 6U teams; Garden Grove Falcons (OCJAAF) for four years coaching the 11U, 10U, and 8U running backs, receivers, corners, defensive backs, offensive and defensive lines, where he won two conference championships; Cerritos Steelers (OCJAAF) for three years coaching 11U and 10U, where he won the OCJAAF Super Bowl; Cypress Centurions (Pop Warner), 10U and 8U, won the Regional Conference; Lakewood Lancers (Pop Warner), 12U and 11U, won the Regional Conference. Jay is a proud uncle to Jaylinn Hawkins (Cal Berkeley – safety), JoJo Hawkins (Princeton – corner and receiver), and brother to Jeremiah Hawkins (Cal Berkeley – slot receiver).
The assistant coaches of the South County Trojans' 11U team:
Jermain ("Juice") Hawkins – 11U Assistant Coach
Coach Hawkins possesses extensive experience playing at the college, high school and youth levels, as well as significant experience coaching elite youth athletes; Golden West College, receiver; Westminster High School, receiver, defensive back, and quarterback, started all four years, two-time League Champions. Coach Juice has coached at the high school level for eight years; Buena Park High School and Pacifica High School, serving both as an assistant coach working with varsity receivers and defensive backs; he also served at Buena Park High School as the head track coach for three years, and ran a youth track club for fourteen years. Coach Juice has spent 10 years coaching elite youth tackle football; Cerritos Steelers (OCJAAF), two-time Super Bowl Champions; Garden Grove Falcons (OCJAAF), League Champions. He has also run an elite high school 7v7 program for the past five years. Coach Hawkins owns GU Training, which is well known for high-caliber, cross-sport, training for ages 5 years through college; he has trained and developed a number of notable athletes, including: JuJu Smith Schuster (USC); Stanley Johnson (NBA), his son, Jaylin Hawkins (Cal Berkeley – safety), his little brother, Jeremiah Hawkins (Cal Berkeley – receiver), George Wilson (Utah State – receiver), Josh Love (San Jose State – quarterback), Solo Tuliaupupu (USC – linebacker).
Vernell Cotton – 11U Assistant Coach
Coach Cotton has extensive playing experience with eight years in semi-professional football leagues, as well as college and high school; semi-pro Norwalk Cowboys, defensive end, started all four years, Patti LaBella League Champions; semi-pro Orange County Jaguars, defensive end, started all four years, Patti LaBella League Champions; Coach Cotton played college football for Tennessee State as a defensive end, started all four years under Joe Gullium; East St. Louis High School, All-American defensive end, started all four years; as a youth coach, he worked with the Tustin Cobras 11U, assistant coach, linebackers and the defensive line.
Scott Marshall – 11U Assistant Coach
Coach Marshall possesses significant playing and coaching experience; Calvary Chapel High School, offensive tackle and defensive end, undefeated league champions. He has spent the past seven years coaching championship winning teams, including: Santa Margarita Pop Warner Titans, offensive and defensive line coach; Santa Margarita Eagles junior varsity and varsity teams, offensive and defensive line coach, Orange Bowl and WESCON champions; Santa Margarita Titans (8U), Mustangs (6U) and Stallions (6U), Orange Bowl Champions. Coach Marshall's son, Bradley currently plays for Trabuco Hills High School, offensive lineman.
Kollin Woodbury – 11U Assistant Coach
Coach Woodbury has extensive playing experience at the college, high school and youth levels; Avila University in Kansas City, running back, kick-off and punt returner; Yucca Valley High School and Joshua Springs High School in California, running back, kick-off and punt returner, senior year rushed for 2,300 yards and 46 touchdowns, went to the state championship. Last year, he assisted the club-level OC Buckeyes 10U team, and previously served as head coach of Matt Leinart Flag.
As a result of the South County Trojans' FBU-style, farm-system approach to shared coaching in practice formats, 11U players will have regular exposure and coaching input from the 12U coaching staff as they move through practice rotations on the field.
