CHICAGO, July 25, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, is pleased to announce that the Partnership Among South Carolina Academic Libraries (PASCAL) has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution to enhance collaboration, efficiency, and services for consortium members. Upon completion of the project, PASCAL members will replace multiple library systems, including Innovative Sierra and Millennium, SirsiDynix, and OCLC systems, with the Alma platform.
PASCAL members will enjoy a common next-generation platform that improves the research experience for students and faculty, and enables libraries to better manage their resources. Alma and Primo will support the expanded collaborative efforts among PASCAL libraries and provide universal access to information resources through statewide delivery services, enabling collaborative collection management via consortium-wide coordination.
Among the benefits of the shared Alma platform and Primo solution are unified management of both print and e-resource collections, the improvement of discovery through the Primo solution, collaborative collection-building, streamlined workflows, and an improved user experience. In addition, Alma analytics capabilities will provide insight into the composition and usage of the statewide collection, enabling libraries to better meet the needs of their patrons. The Alma platform will also eliminate redundancies and integrate seamlessly with multiple campus systems, which will allow the libraries to automate actions such as the uploading of patron data.
PASCAL's Executive Director, Rick Moul, commented, "We are excited to be launching our collaboration with Ex Libris. We will be providing a common, state-of-the-art platform that enhances a library's capability to meet the needs of our state's increasingly mobile students wherever they may be, from the smallest technical and independent colleges to our flagship research institutions and every school in between. Integration of infrastructure to support collaboratively managed collections and services is a key component of our strategic agenda. The Alma platform is uniquely suited to help us realize our goals, and Primo discovery will be particularly important for the students and faculty at a number of our smaller schools that don't currently have a comparable tool in place. Choosing the Ex Libris platform as the foundation for academic library services in the state is transformational."
"Ex Libris looks forward to welcoming PASCAL institutions to the active Alma and Primo user communities," said Eric Hines, president of Ex Libris North America. "Through enhanced library services, member institutions will be able to better support the communities they serve."
