WASHINGTON, July 25, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- President Jacob Zuma of South Africa will be the guest at a National Press Club Speakers luncheon at 1:30 p.m. Monday, August 4.
Zuma, who was first elected president in 2009 and re-elected in 2014, will speak on the eve of the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit in Washington August 5 to 6, and shortly after the 6th BRICS summit he participated in agreed to establish a $50 billion development bank.
His appearance at the NPC coincides with the approaching 20th anniversary of Nelson Mandela speaking at the Club on Oct. 7, 1994, after the first fully democratic election in South Africa's history.
