LOS ANGELES, Nov. 19, 2014 The following is being released by Heifer International:
WHAT
Angelo Wilkie-Page is embarking on a mission to become the first person to circumnavigate the globe from East to West and Pole to Pole, crossing all lines of latitude and longitude, using only human power. No part of his journey will come form the help of motors, sails or even solar power. This journey will take a period of eight years, and will be a first of its kind. Not only will this be the ultimate test of endurance and will power, Expedition 720° will use this journey as a platform for building awareness and raising funds for some of South Africa's most impoverished communities. Expedition 720° has committed itself to raising $1 million for Heifer International South Africa by the end of the expedition.
Expedition 720° has joined forces with Heifer International South Africa because of their exemplary vision. With $1 million, more than 10,000 individuals, or 2,100 families, will be raised out of poverty and hunger and given the opportunity to sustain themselves. Heifer International provides needy families and communities with skills and resources to better their own lives and instills a sense of community and accountability with its Passing on the Gift® model. This grass-roots level of involvement simultaneously inspires change while tangibly making a difference in the lives of all those it touches.
