GREENVILLE, S.C., Dec. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Soteria Battery Innovation Group (BIG) has sold the first license of the Dreamweaver battery separator technology to Glatfelter (NYSE: GLT). The technology uses advanced thermally stable nanofibers in a nonwoven matrix to enhance safety in lithium ion batteries. The license gives Glatfelter global, perpetual, non-exclusive rights to make, use and sell products using the technology. Glatfelter is in the initial stages of a global product launch.
Glatfelter's purchase of the license is an important first step in setting up a global supply chain for the materials used in the Soteria architecture. Their experience in high quality manufacture of technical nonwovens and global distribution network make them the ideal candidate to initiate a global supply chain of the Dreamweaver battery separator technology.
As lithium ion batteries proliferate from our computers to our wrists and homes and cars, battery fires will cost lives and cause much suffering. "It is our goal to make sure that not one life is lost due to either ignorance of or lack of access to our technology," said Brian Morin. Soteria BIG is going to do this by:
- Providing low-cost technology licenses to the best advanced materials companies in the world.
- Developing aggressive safety standards that highlight this advanced safety performance.
- Using those standards and branding to drive adoption in portable electronics, electric vehicles and energy storage.
