HERNDON, Va., Dec. 12, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Sotera Defense Solutions (Sotera), a provider of mission-critical, technology-based systems, solutions and services for national security agencies and programs of the U.S. government, was recently awarded a contract to continue its support of the Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) in Washington, D.C. The $6 million, one-year contract includes 4 option years which if exercised will increase the total contract value to $34 million.

Under the contract which is part of the Laboratory and At Sea Based Acoustic Techniques program, Sotera will support the Physical Acoustics Branch in its theoretical and experimental studies of acousto-elastic systems. Much of the branch's work is directed towards developing advanced techniques in antisubmarine warfare and mine countermeasures.
