CULVER CITY, Calif., Aug. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Movie Channel is proudly presenting some of the film industry's best war dramas and documentaries in September, with its '21 Film Salute' marathon, as the high-definition network broadcasts such popular classics as THE BRIDGE ON THE RIVER KWAI, THE COCKLESHELL HEROES and THE NIGHT OF THE GENERALS; along with notable docs like THE FOG OF WAR and WHY WE FIGHT, and recent hits ranging from THE COMPANY to the animated WALTZ WITH BASHIR. Military-themed movies begin as early as September 1, and include weekly broadcasts and a weekend marathon starting September 28.
To help viewers find the right wartime film that fits their mood, Sony Movie Channel has produced an online search tool that allows the user to dial up or down the degree of battle action and suspense they want to watch. The tool has three dials to help them pick their battle: "Explosions" measures battle action; "Modern" indicates the time period of the war; and "Jungle" depicts the location of the war, ranging from deserts to forests. By moving the dials from minus "-" to plus "+", Sony Movie Channel's tool recommends military films based on the user's choice. The online tool is available all month long at sonymoviechannel.com/salute.
In keeping with action-adventure films, the Channel also is featuring 12 consecutive hours of Jean-Claude Van Damme movies on Monday, September 2 (Labor Day) starting at 10:00 a.m. ET/7:00 a.m PT. The marathon leads up to the broadcast premiere of Van Damme's 2012 film 6 BULLETS at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT. Plus, Van Damme films will be a part of SMC's schedule Monday nights in September starting at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT.
As football comes to the forefront this month, Sony Movie Channel is offering two popular gridiron classics based on real-life athletes on Friday, September 20, with RUDY at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT, followed by BRIAN'S SONG at Midnight ET/9:00 p.m. PT.
