Sony Exhibition Welcomes Thousands at Inaugural SOMETHING IN THE WATER April 26, 2019-April 28, 2019
NEW YORK, May 6, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony teamed up with SOMETHING IN THE WATER, the music festival created by visionary recording artist, producer, songwriter, philanthropist, fashion designer, and entrepreneur, Pharrell Williams, to bring the best of Sony technology, music, movies, and gaming to the heart of Virginia Beach. As a festival partner, Sony created an exhibit space that featured live performances with Sony Music artists; immersive listening experiences in Sony's 360 Reality Audio dome; the hottest dance party in the galaxy with aliens from Men In Black: International; the opportunity to discover the cinematic experiences of the Xperia™ XZ3 and Xperia™ 10 Plus smartphones; aibo, Sony's companion robot and more.
"We saw Pharrell's vision for SOMETHING IN THE WATER aligning with many themes of how we think about ourselves – we want to be close to creators to enable and empower them through all that we do at the intersection of culture and technology," said Midori Tomita, VP in charge of Brand Communications, Sony Corporation.
On Saturday, April 27, guests in the Sony exhibition area were surprised and delighted by a visit from Pharrell Williams, who came to experience the 360 Reality Audio dome, play with aibo, make a bullet-time video with the new Xperia™ XZ3, and take in Leikeli47's live set.
Here is a rundown of additional activities and performances that took place at Sony's SOMETHING IN THE WATER exhibition space:
Friday morning began with an exclusive creators workshop in Sony's 360 Reality Audio dome, where a handful of local producers were able to learn how to utilize this amazing new audio technology using their own original music. Although harsh weather forced cancellation of that days' performances on the main stage of the festival, Sony performers Destiny Rogers, Lucky Daye, Polo G and DDG all braved the elements and performed on the Sony stage.
On Saturday, the Sony exhibition space featured performances from Cautious Clay, VanJess, and LeiKeli47. As the night continued, guests enjoyed a dance party celebrating the upcoming film, Men in Black: International, with special guests from the movie, Les Twins, and additional performances by TJay and Ade.
On the final day, the local music producers who participated in the creators workshop returned to the 360 Reality Audio dome to listen to their produced tracks. Following a meditation sound bath, guests enjoyed the last of the scheduled audio dome programming and spent time exploring the other interactive exhibits while enjoying the beats of DJ Leezus and DJ Julian.
