Sons of Anarchy Spinoff "Mayans MC" Casts Military Veteran Turned Actor Vincent "Rocco" Vargas
Sons of Anarchy spinoff, Mayans MC, undergoes revamp on series pilot, set to begin filming next week in Los Angeles with new cast member Military Veteran turned actor Vincent "Rocco" Vargas
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- FX's Sons of Anarchy spinoff "Mayans MC," the provocative action drama from co-creator Kurt Sutter, kicks off production next week in Los Angeles and has undergone several changes to include the recasting of key characters.
The recreated series pilot, set in the aftermath of Jax Teller's death at the end of 2014's "Sons of Anarchy" season seven, stars JD Pardo as EZ Reyes and Edward James Olmos as Felipe Reyes from the original pilot. In addition, the series has brought in Executive Producer and Director Norberto Barba (Preacher, The Path) to assume Sutter's directorial duties in order for Sutter to concentrate on the shows writing.
Among the talented group of actors cast in Mayan MC is social media personality and real-life Army Ranger (tours in Iraq and Afghanistan) turned actor Vincent "Rocco" Vargas (Range 15, Not a War Story), set to portray good-natured MMA fighter Gilberto "Gilly" Lopez. Vargas's character Gilly rides for the Santo Padre Chapter of the Mayans, under the leadership of Obispo "Bishop" Losa played by Michael Irby (True Detective, The Unit).
It has been a productive year for Vargas, whose credits also include next month's Documentary release of "Not a War Story," and the breakout film "Range 15," the first indie film to rank #1 on Amazon.
