HARTSVILLE, S.C., Feb. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sonoco (NYSE: SON) today announced that it will raise the price for all paperboard tubes and cores by five to eight percent, effective with shipments in the United States and Canada beginning March 24, 2014.

"This price increase is necessary to recover inflationary inputs impacting our converting costs, including chemicals, freight and energy, and recently announced paperboard price increases," said James Harrell, vice president, Tubes and Cores-North America.
