NEW YORK, Feb. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Today, Soma announces it is teaming up with the American Heart Association, the nation's oldest and largest voluntary organization dedicated to fighting heart disease and stroke.
Starting today, the Soma brand will donate $1 for every bra sold in boutiques and at soma.com (for a total of $20,000), through March 11. During each new boutique Grand Opening Event throughout 2015, Soma will also donate 10% of all net proceeds to the American Heart Association.
"This cause is near and dear to my heart," states Laurie Van Brunt, Soma president. "At 13 months old, with 1 in 4 odds, I survived open heart surgery when it was in its early phases of research. Soma believes in the importance of helping the communities in which our customers live. Charitable giving is one of the guiding principles of our brand."
In addition, customers can make a donation at any of the retailer's 250+ boutiques nationwide, outlets and online at www.soma.com/AHA, throughout this year. 100% of customer donations benefit the American Heart Association.
"We are very grateful for Soma's commitment to helping raise awareness about heart disease," said Bernie Dennis, Chairman of the American Heart Association. "Through the support of companies like Soma, we are able to continue to help save lives through our programs, education and research."
Soma is also asking customers across the country to help spread the word and to share their story, through social media, by tagging @SomaIntimates and using the hashtag, #MyHeartStory.
