Solo Launcher and Alibaba's Alohar Mobile Build the World's First Contextually Intelligent Launcher
SAN FRANCISCO, May 15, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- On 12 May, 2015 during the keynote address of AppsWorld 2015, Peter Zhu, a co-founder of Solo System, and Sam Liang, CEO and co-founder of Alohar Mobile, an Alibaba Company, announced a strategic partnership between their companies.
The event was held at the Moscone Center, in San Francisco, California, and is where Solo System also announced their next generation product slogan "Information Finds You". Solo System's main product is Solo Launcher, an app that enables users to personalize their home screen and organize information and apps on their Android device.
Solo System has seen over 150 million users on Google Play, and the firm intends to continue to build intelligent products that connect people with the information that truly matters to them.
Alohar Mobile, an Alibaba company based in Palo Alto, California, has created the world's first mobile context platform that makes a Context Graph, which connects people with the physical world by using sensors on smart devices and the Internet of Things.
"Solo Launcher leverages Alohar's technology to drive its context aware app recommendation system," says Mr. Zhu. "As a result users get optimized app suggestions based on their real world context."
During the announcement Mr. Liang said, "Context surrounds us and penetrates us. It binds all lives together. We will take advantage of context, and make our lives better."
Solo System has built several prototypes that can learn the user's hobbies and preferences by using context aware technology. In particular the Context Aware Center, currently in beta version, creates a personal news feed that lays out the apps and contents based on the user's mobile context.
Another prototype from Solo System is their "Locker Prediction Button", which can be found in their DIY Locker app. This feature provides users with easy access to the apps that are most often used during the user's daily commute. Once familiar with the locations and time the apps are used, DIY Locker can present a Prediction Button at the corner of the screen, which the user can swipe up to activate or choose to ignore it.
If activated the user can access a drawer button that contains the apps most often used during the user's commute. Both of these prototypes help organize a device in way that enables the user to use their device in more convenient and natural manner.
The partnership between Alohar Mobile and Solo System is bound to bring more intelligent products to the market and redefine the way users interact with their devices and discover information.
