Soles4Souls to Release Book by CEO and Founder Wayne Elsey
Almost Isn't Good Enough scheduled to release December 2010
NASHVILLE, Tenn., Nov. 18, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- Soles4Souls, the international shoe charity dedicated to distributing shoes to those in need, and its publishing imprint Changing the World Publishing will release the first book by its founder Wayne Elsey. Almost Isn't Good Enough: The Human Connection Changes Everything highlights the key events of Wayne's life, including teenage desperation, corporate achievement and his life changing epiphany, that led him to create one of the most successful non-profits in the country.
Almost Isn't Good Enough contains the unusual business principles unique to Wayne that have prompted the rapid growth of Soles4Souls while offering a personal look at the heart of a man who uncovered a crisis and chose not to look the other way. 100% of the proceeds from the book will benefit Soles4Souls.
The book will also include 10 thoughts for every non-profit leader -- outlining the dos and don'ts when starting and growing a non-profit. The thoughts walk a leader through the importance of surrounding themselves with a great team, the need to adjust to chaos, and the significance of looking forward not backward.
Almost Isn't Good Enough has received glowing endorsements from celebrities, athletes, and business executives including Grammy Award winning artist Amy Grant, fashion designer and icon Kenneth Cole, and Antawn Jamison of the Cleveland Cavaliers.
"Almost Isn't Good Enough is a road map for individuals, young and old, looking to inspire a positive change in their corner of the world. Millions of people have been impacted through the incredible generosity and mission of Soles4Souls. Wayne's enthusiasm and passion have helped steer the footwear industry toward a more altruistic outlook on the world," said Diane Sullivan, President, COO, and Director of Brown Shoe Company INC.
Wayne Elsey has led Soles4Souls to distribute more than 12 million pairs of shoes to people around the world. Drawing from more than 30 years of experience in the footwear industry, Wayne has expanded the Soles4Souls brand to include an apparel division as well as constructing homes for the victims of the January earthquake that destroyed Haiti. Wayne is a sought-after speaker and a respected voice in the non-profit arena.
"Each day the thought crosses my mind that when my daughter Melissa gets older and I'm gone, what sort of legacy am I going to leave for her?," said Wayne. "I strive every day to make sure I'm making a positive impact on the world. I not only want her to know I love her, but I want the 300 million children in the world without shoes to know that I care about them and I'm doing everything in my power to change their circumstances for the better."
Almost Isn't Good Enough will release nationwide on December 26, 2010. The book can be purchased through www.giveshoes.org and through Amazon.com.
