Solar Energy Applications Open for Consumers Energy Residential Customers; Information Session Tonight in Traverse City

TRAVERSE CITY, Mich., June 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Beginning this week residential electric customers served by Consumers Energy can submit applications to participate in the next phase of the Experimental Advanced Renewable Program (EARP).

Consumers Energy is conducting an information session this evening in Traverse City for residential electric customers interested in learning about customer-installed solar energy systems. The session will be held at the Aero Park campus of Northwestern Michigan College. The session is free of charge, open to the public and will take place from 5:30 PM until 8:30 PM.

Speakers during the session will provide information on how customers can install their own solar energy systems as part of Consumers Energy's program.

This program allows electric customers to sell the output of customer-owned solar generating systems to Consumers Energy for a fixed price over a contract length of 15 years. Applications for this next phase of the EARP must be submitted by July 5, 2012. Consumers Energy's EARP website provides information on this renewable energy program. Consumers Energy's program currently has contracts in place to purchase renewable energy from 140 customer-owned solar generators as part of the utility's Renewable Energy Plan.
